My Happy Mind and Thrive Approach

Learning Mentor - Miss Campbell

As Learning Mentor, Miss Campbell works with pupils to help them overcome barriers to learning so that they can achieve their very best in school. Barriers to learning can be different for every child and may arise from a wide range of personal, social, emotional or environmental factors. Miss Campbell works closely with pupils, parents and staff to support positive behaviour, strengthen engagement in learning, develop confidence, and enable pupils to feel secure and successful within the school environment.

Her work includes supporting pupils with friendships and social interaction skills, helping children to resolve difficulties and build positive relationships, promoting good attendance, supporting pupils through bereavement or challenging home circumstances, and providing guidance where safeguarding or wider wellbeing needs are identified. She also supports pupils identified as gifted and talented, ensuring that barriers do not limit achievement or aspiration.

Miss Campbell uses both the Happy Mind approach and the Thrive approach to support pupils' social, emotional and mental health. These evidence-informed approaches help children to understand their emotions, develop resilience, regulate their behaviour and build positive relationships. Through this work, pupils are supported to develop confidence, self-awareness and strategies that enable them to engage positively in learning and school life.

During the school day, Miss Campbell spends time in class supporting small groups of pupils during morning sessions. Afternoons are dedicated to targeted one-to-one support and small group work, ensuring personalised provision that meets individual needs. Positive impact has been seen in pupils' ability to make positive behaviour choices, regulate their emotions, improve their emotional wellbeing and maintain positive friendships.

Miss Campbell also works in partnership with parents and carers, signposting families to additional agencies where more specialised support may be required, for example housing or other family services.

If you feel your child may benefit from additional support, please do not hesitate to speak with Miss Campbell about how we can work together to support your child's wellbeing and success.
