Welcome to Harper Bell Seventh-day Adventist School

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Harper Bell Seventh-day Adventist School, a school where faith, high expectations and a commitment to excellence are at the heart of everything we do.

As Headteacher, I am proud to lead Harper Bell during an exciting period of renewal, growth and improvement. Since joining the school, our focus has been clear: to strengthen leadership, improve teaching and learning, raise aspirations and ensure every child receives the high-quality education they deserve in a caring and nurturing environment.

As a practising Seventh-day Adventist, a wife and a parent, I understand the importance of providing children with an education that nurtures both academic excellence and Christian character. My faith is central to my life and leadership and I am deeply committed to ensuring that the distinctive values of Adventist education are lived out through every aspect of school life. I want every child to know that they are loved by God, valued as individuals and capable of achieving their God-given potential.

Our recent Ofsted Monitoring Visit recognised the significant progress being made across the school. Inspectors acknowledged that leaders have secured rapid and visible improvements, strengthened leadership and staffing and significantly increased the school's capacity to improve further. They recognised improvements in achievement, curriculum development, inclusion and the quality of support provided for pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

At Harper Bell, we have established a clear vision and a structured approach to school improvement. We have redesigned our curriculum to ensure that knowledge and skills are carefully sequenced, strengthened our approach to teaching and learning and invested heavily in staff development and instructional coaching. These improvements are helping to create consistent, high-quality learning experiences in every classroom and ensuring that pupils develop the knowledge, understanding and confidence they need to succeed.

Inspectors also recognised the positive learning behaviours and consistent routines that are becoming increasingly evident throughout the school. Visitors to Harper Bell will see calm classrooms, purposeful learning, respectful relationships and a culture where children are encouraged to work hard, show kindness and take pride in their achievements.

Our ethos is rooted firmly in the values of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. These values guide our relationships, our decision-making and our commitment to developing the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Through worship, prayer, service and learning, we seek to place Christ at the centre of all that we do while warmly welcoming families from all backgrounds who share our commitment to strong values and high aspirations.

Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on character development, wellbeing and service to others. We want our pupils to leave Harper Bell with strong foundations for lifelong learning, a deep sense of purpose and the confidence to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Harper Bell is a welcoming, inclusive and family-centred school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential and we are committed to working closely with parents and carers to support every child's success.

I warmly invite you to visit our school and experience Harper Bell for yourself. During your visit, you will meet our dedicated staff, see our pupils engaged in learning and witness the exciting improvements taking place across the school. We are proud of the journey we are on and excited about the future.

Together, through faith, high expectations and a shared commitment to excellence, we will continue to build a school where every child can grow, thrive and achieve their God-given potential.
