Parents are responsible for:
- Ensuring that their children are on time for morning registration, 8.30am - 8.50am.
- Ensuring their child is in school everyday where possible.
- Informing the school before 9.00am on their first day of absence and every day thereafter.
- Informing the school of any changes to their contact details.
- Collecting their children on time (Monday to Thursday 3:30pm and Friday 1:00pm).
-
Not taking holidays during term time.
As parents and carers, you are legally responsible for making sure your child attends school regularly. Missing school causes severe disruption to a child’s education, and affects their performance now and therefore, their chances later in life. Please see our up to date guidance and policy below for further information and if you have any concerns please speak to someone in our school office.
Attendance during one school year | equals this number of absent days | which is approximately this many weeks absent | which means this number of lessons missed |
---|---|---|---|
95% | 9 days | 2 weeks | 50 lessons |
90% | 19 days | 4 weeks | 100 lessons |
85% | 29 days | 6 weeks | 150 lessons |
80% | 38 days | 8 weeks | 200 lessons |
Every Minute Counts!
Frequent absence can add up to a considerable amount of lost learning and can seriously disadvantage your child in adult life.
- 5 minutes late every day means around 3 ½ days of education are missed
- a score of 90% in a test would be a good result but 90% attendance means that a child will have missed around 100 lessons over a school year.
